On April 30th, the APA held its first Virtual Networking Lunch. More than 40 people attended.

The following is the transcript of the chat from the meeting.
    ______________________________________________________________

The Discussion Forum is open to everyone at this time and is a great resource.

Maria Deneau introduced herself as the new Director of Admissions and Marketing for The Alois Center. They have a hospital contract for testing- and have been very strict due to the lockdown. Alois is accepting new admissions with a new COVID policy and is able to accept dementia behaviors and new disease personalities that other communities cannot.  Alois has Assisted Living and Certified Nursing neighborhoods and is private pay. This was the first free standing all dementia facility in the country when it opened in 1987 and is known throughout the country.

Katherine Brooks introduced herself as the new owner of Queen City Transitions and can be reached at: katie@queencitytransitions.com.

Jen Roth gave her new email address:  jenroth@trinityala.com and phone number is:  513-503-5021.  She is now the Director of Care Management for Trinity Aging Life Advisors.

Paige Hahn's email address is: phahn@wickshiresl.com.

Anne Arnette, New Trilogy Campus in Hamilton. Gateway Springs Health Campus, Marketing and Admissions.  anne.arnette@theglensl.com. 513-708-0560

Ann Burke announced the Jewish Family Services has hired Meredith Davis as the new Director Center for Holocaust Survivors. Ann also advised that Jewish Family Service is accepting new patients for therapy/counseling using telehealth.

ProSeniors offered to post links for scams on the APA Discussion Forum. Hotline is 345-4160 for legal assistance.

Deb at Oderxit put her email address up:  deb@odorxit.com.

Emily Elma advised tests were available at Mercy Hospital.

    Activity Ideas Posted

Activities by Katherine Robinson: She is coordinating a card campaign that has developed into pen pal relationships for seniors who don't have family in the area.

Tracy Sanborn implemented at the New England Club "telegrams" and the residents are sending messages back and forth to one another and are loving it.

Wickshire Deer Park has started "Sing Us Song."   https://wickshireseniorliving.con/sing/.

David Flautt Assisted Living Locators reminded the great video platform that Facebook and Amazon offer to connect residents living in a senior community. Simple set up and you can essentially drop in on a loved one.  It's like FaceTime and a smartphone is needed.

Llee Sivitz:  She is the author of "Speaking Up For Mom: A Daughter's Quest for Compassionate Medical Care."  She has moved her talks about her book to online.  She is giving a talk on May 5 that is open to others by invitation.  She will be adding to her talk her current experience of advocating for her husband while he was in the hospital when she could not visit him.  If you want an invite email her at: speakingupformom@gmail.com.

The Scripps Gerontology Center just launched a survey of families yesterday.  They are being asked about how they're staying in touch with their residents and hope to have some ideas to share in the next few weeks.  STRAKEJK will put the link to the survey on the discussion board.

Teresa Youngstrom  - "I am a local dementia specialist and seasoned RN.  I provide staff training, family consultations, workshops and CE's related to memory care.  I can provide video training and workshops in addition to providing online memory care support groups.  Contact her at:  www.teresayoungstrom.com. "  Newest CE is approved for nurses and social workers, "Ethical Dilemmas with Dementia."

Betsy gave her new email address:  goldfarb.betsy@gmail.com.

Lots of thumbs up enjoying the lunch Zoom and glad that we did this.
